U13s complete KKA League and Cup double

What an amazing day for Bromley Korfball Club as our talented U13 team completed the KKA league and cup double after beating Tornadoes in the final.

The team was captained today by Katy who has been an awesome captain all season. The focus of our pre-game team talk was about guarding against complacency, not conceding penalties and taking our chances when they arise. In the first ten minutes we looked nervy and conceded the opening goal but pulled it back to 1:1. It was tight and we conceded a few cheap penalties and uncharacteristically Tornadoes couldn’t convert. Captain Katy on the other hand slotted her penalty in some style.

We went in at half time 4-2 up and looking like we might push on in the second half but tornadoes pulled it back to 4-4 early in the half. The tactic of double teaming Georgia was paying off as even she found taking on two defenders every time she got the ball tough going. It was a real battle in the second half with neither side able to get more than 1 goal ahead before being pegged back. It was 5-5 with minutes left on the clock before Daniel scored the winning goal.

It was a hard fought victory and a worthy final and full commiserations to Tornadoes.

This season was a real team affair, big thanks to Hilary young who was a great team manager and Thomas young for coaching this group for most of the season.

The team were:

Katy (captain) 1 goal
Daniel (vice Captain) 1 goal
Georgia 1 goal
Teo 3 goals

Thanks to Ellie Downes for her contribution this season.

It’s worth noting that we lost only one game in all competitions this season and had a goal difference of +66.

Happy days.
